Bassett
Services for Mr. Ernest B. Bassett, 85, a resident of Meredith Avenue, Frankfort, will be 2:00 p.m. today at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Stamping Ground. Burial will be in the Stamping Ground Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Bassett died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington following a long illness. A native of Stamping Ground, he was a veteran of WW I, and the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer, a Kentucky Kernel and a member of the Canty Fork Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ola Anderson Bassett, Frankfort; two daughters, Mrs. Mae Weaver and Mrs. Pauline Hammond both of Lexington; two brothers, Carl Bassett, Stamping Ground and Palmer Bassett, Owenton; one grandson, Kenny Weaver, Carrollton, KY. He was the son of the late Adeline Braden Bassett and John Peter Bassett. The Rev. Glenn Mollette will officiate. Honorary bearers will be Kenneth Lucas, Ralph Parker, Raymond Offutt, and Roy Southworth. Active bearers will be Jack Bruford, Ed Rose, James Johnson, Richard Bogart, Buddy Richardson, and Gilbert F. Cowan. Friends may call at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home ? Stamping Ground until time of service.
