Rose M. Bassett Hayner
Easton, N.Y. Rose M. Bassett Hayner, 82, of Route 40, Easton, died Sunday evening, Dec. 23, 2007, at Saratoga Hospital, following a short illness. Born Nov. 10, 1925, in Mechanicville, she was the daughter of Anthony and Ellena DeCarlo Lupo, the widow of Robert H. Hayner and Allen H. Bassett and a graduate of Mechanicville High School. Rose was employed for many years as a legal secretary for the former Law Offices of Nolan & Hayner. She was a member of the United Church of Greenwich, The Ida Whiteside Guild of the United Church, The Eastern Book Club, a volunteer at the Easton Library and the Ecumenical Christian Bible Study. Survivors include two sons, Sanford A. (Susan) Bassett of Rutland, Vt., and Lewis R. (Denise) Bassett of Schaghticoke; one daughter, Carol Ann (Richard) Goff of Malta, N.Y.; one brother, Nicholas Lupo of Mechanicville; one sister, Mary Jane Mignacci of Mechanicville; and she is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by siblings, Rocco Lupo and Rita Russom. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Greenwich, 37 Salem St., Greenwich. A private interment service will be held in the Easton Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Easton Library, Route 40, Schaghticoke, NY 12154 in Rose's memory.
