      Lee Randall Bassett of New Fairfield, a highway crewman who grew up in Ridgefield, died unexpectedly Tuesday of natural causes at Danbury Hospital. He was 40 years old and the husband of Carol R. Neade Bassett.
      Mr. Bassett was born in Danbury on May 10, 1943, son of Edna Smith Bassett of Ridgefield and the late Everett Bassett. He lived here for some years, moving to New Fairfield 17 years ago.
      An employee of the New Fairfield Highway Department, Mr. Bassett belonged to the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department and the Connecticut National Guard, and was a former member of the Connecticut Rebels Fife and Drum Corps. He belonged to the Ridgebury Congregational Church.
      Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Bassett is survived by a son Michael L. Bassett and a daughter Stacey M. Bassett, both of New Fairfield, a sister Jane Gore of New Milford, and be several nieces and nephews.
      Calling hours at the Hull Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, will be today from 2-4 and from 7 to p.m.
      Contributions may be made to the Book of Remembrance of the Ridgebury Congregational church.

      Lee Randall Bassett, 49, of 16 Glen Road New Fairfield, Connecticut, husband of Carol R. Meade Bassett, died unexpectedly yesterday at Danbury Hospital. Death was attributed to natural causes. Mr. Bassett was born in Danbury, May 10, 1943, son of the late Everette Bassett. He lived in Ridgefield for a number of years, moving to New Fairfield 17 years ago. Mr. Bassett worked for the New Fairfield Highway Department since 1972. He was associated with both Company A and Squantz Company of New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company, and was a member of the Connecticut National Guard since 1963. Mr. Bassett was a past member of the Connecticut Rebels Fife and Drum Corps. He was a member of Ridgebury Congregational Church, Ridgefield. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a son Michael I. and a daughter, Stacey M. both of New Fairfield; a sister, Jane Gore of New Milford; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place Friday at 11 a.m. in Ridgebury Congregational Church. The Rev. Roy E. Jacobsen of the United Methodist Church of New Fairfield will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgebury cemetery, Ridgefield. Friends may call at the Hull Home, 20 Division Street, Danbury tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friends are asked to omit flowers. Contributions in memory of Mr. Bassett may be made to the Book of Remembrance of Ridgebury Congregational Church.
