Franklin ? Patricia Hall ?Patti? Bass, 61 passed away on April 18, 2018 in her home with her daughter by her side. She was born June 6, 1956 in Orlando, Florida to Nance Anderson Hall and the late Bert Edwin Hall, Jr. She graduated from West Hampton University where she majored in Foreign Language Studies. Patti was preceded in death by the love of her life David A. Bass, her son Kenneth H. Moore, and infant daughter Meredith N. Moore.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Moore, Carlos Ferreiras (soon to be son-in-law), grandson Ashton, and her favorite cat Boo. She is also survived by her sisters Margie Gillum, Jackie Updike (Kyle), Lori Hall, and Carrie Duckwall (Thomas), and her brothers Thomas Hall (Shubie), Chris Hall, and Peter Hall (Leanne), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Patti retired from the State of Virginia. She worked in a variety of roles for the Department of Corrections, as a junior probation and parole officer, an ombudsman, the superintendent of a Women?s Diversion Center, Deputy Chief of Suffolk, and lastly, she retired as Chief of Probation and Parole in Franklin.
Patti had an affinity for flamingos and many would agree that Patti?s personality was synonymous with the effervescent pink bird that she was so fond of. She also enjoyed traveling and she and her late husband David loved taking cruises and going on excursions around the Caribbean. Patti had many interests and was very involved in her church and her community, always giving back and finding ways to be a positive impact. Patti was a lover of life; she embraced everything and everyone and always looked for the best in each situation.
A celebration of Patti?s life will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2018, in St. Jude?s Catholic Church, 1014 Clay Street, Franklin, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Patti?s name may be made to St. Jude?s Catholic Church Building Fund. The family extends a special thanks to Patti?s friend Vonda Sessoms and her neighbors, the Bryants.
