Edna Bassett, 89 of Danbury
Edna Bassett, 89, of Glen Road in New Fairfield, and formerly of Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield, died Tuesday at Glen Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Carmel, N.Y., Nov. 19, 1907, the daughter of the late Chauncey and Jennie O'Dell Smith. She lived in this region all of her life.
She was a baker at Ridgebury Elementary School in Ridgefield for a number of years. She was an active, and believed to be the oldest, member of Ridgebury Congregational Church in Ridgefield, where she also was a former Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the Rebekahs in Ridgefield.
She was the widow of Everett Lee Bassett and was predeceased by a son, Lee Bassett, in 1984.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane C. Gore of New Milford; a brother, Delmar Smith of Danbury; a sister, Mildred Moore of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Stacey Bassett of New Fairfield and Michael Bassett of Toccoa, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

CALLING HOURS: Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury.
SERVICES: Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ridgebury Congregational Church, with the Rev. Wilma White and the Rev. Heather Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Ridgebury Cemetery, Ridgefield.
