Born Dec. 3, 1927, in Hicksville, Ohio, he retired in 1988 as a mail carrier with the Angola U.S. Post Office, after 36 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie (Kessler) Bassett of Angola; two sons, Larry Bassett of Angola and Michael Bassett of LaPorte; a daughter, Linda Landram of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and one great-grand-child. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola. Visitatation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Military graveside service at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola. Memorials to Angola United Methodist Church and donor's choice. (Includes picture).
