Enid Jones Bassett, 93, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully October 5, 2019 in Cedar City, Utah. Mom was born June 20, 1926, in Byron, Wyoming. Her parents, Frank Lyman Jones and Lydia Isabell Jenkins Jones, had four daughters of which she was the youngest. Her parents and sisters Donna Dale, Arlene Root, and Anna Kaspar, proceeded her in death.

She married her sweetheart, Jack Thaxton Bassett, on March 25, 1944 in Billings, Montana. Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom and Dad spent their married years in San Diego, California, where they raised their five children: Sue Bassett Parowan, Utah, Nancy Kaye Bassett Provo, Utah, Valerie Townsend (Wayne) Parowan, Utah, Bradley Bassett (Jill) Cedar City, Utah, and Lance Bassett (Callie) Parowan, Utah. Dad passed away November 11, 1999, in Parowan, Utah.

Mom had many gifts, talents, and interests which she shared with family, friends, and her community. Music was very important. She sang in Dad?s dance band. Mom also conducted or sang in church and community choirs. She was known for her pie baking, holiday cookies, love of yard work, and serving her family and neighbors. Knitting was a passion and she was best known for grandchildren?s sweaters and dozens of Christmas stockings. Her daughters and granddaughters received dresses she had sewn for special occasions. Mom and Dad loved to travel and she always had a bag packed ready for the next adventure.

Mom was a life-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with many ward and stake callings, she served a mission with her husband in the Arizona Mesa Temple Visitor Center and worked in the San Diego Temple Baptistry. Because of her service, she made lifelong friends, influenced people, and shared many spiritual experiences which strengthened her family.

She will be missed by her five children, their spouses, 13 grandchildren, their spouses, and 26 great grandchildren, with another on the way.

Funeral services will be held Friday October 11, 2019, at 1:00pm at the Parowan 1st Ward Building (59 South 100 West, Parowan, Utah). Viewing will be held October 11, 2019, at 11:00am-12:30pm at the Parowan 1st Ward Building. Interment will be in the Parowan Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.

As a family, we appreciate the kind care of her neighbors, hospice, and Cedar Health and Rehab Center.
