Bass of Flatonia, was awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon in ceremonies at the AAF Military Training Center in San Antonio, last week. A veteran of two years overseas in nthe China-Burma-India theater, Major Bass was a chemical officer with the 14th Air Force. He is the officer-in-charge of operations in the Chemical Warfare School at the Training Center. Prior to entering the service about four years ago, he attended the University of Texas in 1939 after having received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Texas A. & I., College in Kingsville in 1938. His parents, Dr. and Mrs. F. A. Bass, reside in Alice.
