Clifford Gordon Bassett
Clifford G. Bassett, 77, formerly of North Salem Road Ridgefield, a retired carpenter, died Saturday in Bay of Pines, St. Petersburg, Florida. Born in Ridgefield, June 9, 1886, he was the son of the late Orville and Evelyne Gregory Bassett. Until two years ago when he moved to Florida, he was a resident of Ridgefield. He was a member of St. Stephens' Episcopal church of Ridgefield and he was also a member of the Ridgefield Odd Fellows. Besides his wife Alice Bassett, he leaves two sons, Everett and Ronald, both of Ridgefield; a daughter, Mrs. Samuel Taylor of Carmel, New York; two brothers, Cleveland of Largo, Florida, and Fred Schork of Danbury; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the William C. Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah Street Ridgefield, the Rev. Aaron Manderbech, rector of St. Stephens' church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ridgefield cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
