Herbert LaMonte Bassett (July 11th, 1918 - June 24th, 2003) Age: 84 Burial Date: Saturday, June 28th, 2003 Herbert LaMonte "Monte" Bassett, 84, died June 24, 2003, at his home in Cody. He was born July 11, 1918, in Iona, the son of Herbert LaRoy and Clara Stevens Heap Bassett. On June 30, 1941, he married Ruth June Garwood in Lovell. He attempted to join the military, but because he was a stockman with a large sheep herd, the government thought he would be better utilized producing wool needed for uniforms. He is surived by his wife Ruth, children Sandra Bassett of Middletown, Calif., James Bassett of Cody and grandchildren Theresa, Deborah, Shelly, Jamie, C.J. and Wendy. Funeral services were Saturday, June 28, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wyoming Avenue chapel, with interment at Riverside Cemetery.
