Cleveland G. Bassett
Cleveland G. Bassett, 79, of 825 4th Ave. Largo, Florida, formerly of Ridgefield, died suddenly at his home on Saturday. A former member of the Board of Finance for 30 years, Mr. Bassett was a retired contractor and builder. He was the husband of the late Nellie A. Lewis Bassett. Born in Ridgefield March 16, 1885, he was the son of the Orville and Evelyn Gregory Bassett. He was postmaster of Jersalem Lodge, a member of the Pilgrim Lodge, the Volunteer Fire Department, and the St. Stephens' Epsicopal Church. Surviving are three sons, Howard Bassett of Ridgefield, Francis of Hartford, and C. Gregory of Baltimore, Maryland; a daughter Mrs. Curtis Dyke of Sarasota, Florida, a step sister Mrs. Samuel Taylor of Mahopac, New York and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the William C. Kane Funeral Home 41 Catoonah Street Ridgefield. The Rev. Aaron Manderbach, rector of St. Stephens' church will officiate. Calling hours are Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services for Cleveland G. Bassett of Largo, Florida were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the William C. Kane Funeral Home 41 Catoonah Street. The Rev. Aaron Manderbach, rector of St. Stephens' Episcopal Church officiated. Bearers were J. Mortimer Woodstock, Frank Wallington, Charles Weitzel, Percy Humphrey, E. Hull, and Edwin Allen. Burial was in Mapleshade cemetery. Committal services were conducted by Mr. Manderbach. The list of survivors in Mr. Bassett's obituary on Monday inadvertenly omitted a step-brother, Fred Schorck of Bethel, Connecticut.
