Rozanne Bassett, talented 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Benton Bassett of Seattle, visited friends in Olympia Sunday and skated in the afternoon at the ice arena renewing acquaintances with some of the Olympia skaters.
Miss Bassett has just returned from California where she entered the Pacific coast ice skating championships at Oakland and won the highest place of any northwest entrant in the ladies? novice singles.

ROZANNE GILKEY (Age 91) Rozanne Gilkey died peacefully in Spokane Valley, WA on May 28, 2017. Rozanne was born in 1926 to Homer and Mary Bassett in St. Paul, Minnesota. She moved to Spokane in her teens, and after graduating from Lewis & Clark High School, skated in the Ice Follies for a year. She married the "boy next door", Herbert S. Gilkey Jr. (Sam), in 1946. They raised three children in Spokane and in 1982, Sam was transferred to Kennewick, Washington. There, both Rozanne and Sam became avid tennis players and Rozanne played well into her 80's. She was a long-time member of the Tri Cities Court Club. Other interests included gardening, reading, needlepoint, and playing bridge. Showing signs of dementia, she moved back to Spokane to be closer to family in 2013. Rozanne is survived by her three children: Stephen and his wife LaVaughan, Herbert (Pat) and his wife Doris, and daughter Katherine. She has 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 49 years and her sister, Mary Lou Gaston. No services will be held at her request.
