Mrs. Eve Schork died Saturday morning at the home of her son, Cleveland G. Bassett, Gilbert Street, after a long illness.
Mrs. Schork was the survivor of her family, her parents and brothers and sisters passing away man years ago. She was the daughter of William Burr Gregory of Farmingville and Jane Cummings Gregory who was born near London, England.
Mrs. Schork was born in Farmingville and was the youngest of five children. The children were: Mary Jane born February 28, 1855; William Burr Gregory Jr. who died in February 13, 1860; Benjamin Lyman who was drowned on Long Island Sound near South Norwalk, September 4, 1875, Adaline Augusta born November 27, 1856; Eva born May 24, 1861.
Mrs. Schork attended the Farmingville school and was very proficient in her studies. She was fond of reading, especially poetry and history.
It was a delight to Mrs. Schork to meet her old friends and recal in pleasant memory the many interesting word-wide events of her generation. Mrs. Schork was one of the oldest members of the St. Stephen Epsicopal Church.
Her husband, Frederick Schork, died in November 1931. She is survived by two sons from her first marriage, Cleveland G. Bassett and Clifford Bassett, and three sons by her second marriage, Russell, Kenneth and Frederick Schork. Another son Robert W.B., died in his infancy, May 13, 1893, and a daughter Madeline Schork Taylor, of Brewster, N.Y.
The funeral was held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church Monday afternoon, the Rev. William B. Lusk, officiating.
Interment was the family plot in the Titicus cemetery.
