Russell Lee Bass
SEABOARD ? Mr. Russell Lee Bass, 91, of Seaboard, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Va.
Mr. Bass was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Northampton County, the son of the late Robert Drew Bass and Nannie Long Bass. He was also predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Annie Taylor Bass; and a brother, Waylon Bass. Mr. Bass served his country during World War II as a member of the Army Air Corp. He was a proud veteran and continued his service after the war as a member of the Air Force Reserve. He retired with the rank of captain.
He is survived by his children, David Bass and his wife, Patti, of Franklin, Va., Gary Bass and his wife, Gail, of Chester, Va., Robert Bass and his wife, Lynda, of Wilmington and Jennifer Bass Bolton and her husband, Pat, also of Wilmington; his brother, Robert D. Bass Jr. of Portland, Maine; his sister, Ruth Bass Downing of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, which is handling the arrangements, with the Rev. Jim Cox officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
