Virgie Bass Long

At nearly 105, she went peacefully to be with the Lord on August 3, 2006. She was affectionately called "Mama" where she spent her last four years at Terraces of Lake Worth Nursing Home. Born in Seaboard, NC, she lived in Boynton Beach approximately 45 years, coming from Portsmouth, Virginia. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Boynton Beach since 1959. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, L.S. (Jim) Long of Griffin, GA, and Ivan (John) Long of Fair Oaks, CA; a daughter "Ginnie" Davis Summers of Boynton Beach; also a nephew, Wilson Brown of Punta Gorda, FL. She was predeceased by her husband, Linwood S. Long, Sr., a daughter, Velna L. Le Sieur, two sons, Julius (Jack) Long and Rudolph Long. She was dearly loved by her many grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home from 2 PM until 3 PM, Sunday, August 6, 2006. A brief service will follow at 3 PM with Rev. Neil T. Hickem officiating. Burial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Boynton Beach Memorial Park. Friends are asked to make donations to First Baptist of Delray Beach (General Fund), 16333 S. Military Trail, Delray Beach, FL 33484. Arrangements entrusted to Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, Boynton Beach, FL.
