Death of Widely Known Physician Occurs At Home After Several Weeks Illness
Died January 4, 1947
Dr. Frank E. Bass, age 65, widely known Shelby county and Shelbyville physician, died at his home at 169 W. Washington St., Saturday following an illness of several weeks.
Dr. Bass had practiced medicine in Shelbyville for the past 31 years, maintaining an office at the rear of his home on S. West St. He was a graduate of the Indiana Medical College and began his profession in Morristown in 1903.
He was born in Marion twp., on July 26, 1881, the son of William and Elisie (Williams) Bass. They preceded him n death as did his step-mother, Mrs. Harriett (Fox) Bass, and a brother and half-brother. On May 24, 1904, he was married in Elwood to Miss Bertha Moore, who survives with a daughter, Mrs. C. Dee Walker, of Rockford, Ill. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Carolyn and Phillip Walker; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Bassett, of Kokomo, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Dr. Bass was a member of the Shelby County and Indiana Medical Societies and had served as secretary-treasurer of the county organization. He also was a member of the Masonic lodge, Order of Eastern Star and the Elks lodge.
Funeral services will be held at the Charles M. Edwin mortuary this afternoon at 2:00 o?clock with Rev. W.L. Ford, assisted by Dr. C. A. Bowler, officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary.
