Rites Set For Virgil Towne
Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy Mortuary for Virgil S. Towne, 74, 417 Alice St., who died Sunday at 10:50 a.m. at Major Hospital. He had been a patient there two weeks and in failing health several months. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenn McGuire officiating. Friends may call at any time at the mortuary, where Masonic rites will be conducted tonight at 8:00 o?clock. Mr. Towne was a retired employee of Allison Division, General Motors, Indianapolis, where he had served as a patrolman. He was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and Trinity United Methodist Church. Born in Shelby County June 12, 1899, Mr. Towne was the son of Charles and Carolyn (Nading) Towne. On Dec. 25, 1923, he married Theo Lillian Duffy, who survives. Also surviving are a son William D. Towne, Shelbyville, two grandchildren and two brothers and sister, Jack Towns and Mrs. Cecil (Joan) Shadley, Shelbyville, and Hal Nading Towne, Danville, Ill. Six brothers and sisters preceded in death.
