Mrs. Carrie Nading Towns
Mrs. Carrie Nading Towns, 50 years old, wife of Charles Towns, died at 3:40 o?clock Friday afternoon at her home 159 Elizabeth Street, a victim of goiter, from which she had suffered for the last six months. Mrs. Towns was the daughtger of Simon and Mollie Nading and was born October 23, 1879, in Greenfield, Indiana. Most of her life was spent in Shelby county, and for the last nine years she had lived Shelbyville. She was united with Mr. Towns in marriage in 1897. Nine children, of whom survive, were born to them. The children who, with the husband, survive, are: Virgil, of Lapel, Ind., C. Edwin, of Rusvhile; Hal, Robert and Jack Towns, at home; Mrs. T.J. Hargadon, of Lond Beach, Cal. Mrs. Chandis Bates, of Shelbyville; Miss Joan Towns, at home, Mary Elizabeth, another daughter, preceded her mother in death in 1914. Mrs. Towns? step-father, Hiram Justice, of Freeport, and a step-brother, Leonard Justice, in addition to three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive. Mrs. Towns was a member of the First M.E. church of Shelbyville having transferred her membership from the Morristown M.E. church in 1915. She was also an active member of the Ladies? Aid Society of the church. Funeral services will be conducted at the home on Elizabeth street Monday morning at 10 o?clock, Dr. L.T. Freeland and Rev. Jesse Towns, a brother-in-law of the deceased, officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Forest Hill, with C.F. Fix and Son in charge. Friends may call at the home after 5 o?clock this evening.
