My Grandmother Bassett, after the death of my grandfather, married a man by the name of Cole and had two children by him - Samuel and Hester. On account of the cruelty of Cole to my father and some of the other children, my Grandmother separated from him, and he by some false pretense, got Samuel while young and took him away and he was never seen by his mother or his brothers and sisters afterwards. But he was heard from after I was grown and he was married and settled somewhere in Missouri, but we know nothing more of him.
