Russell Eldridge Bassett
Russell Eldridge Bassett?It?s Raining, but there ain?t a cloud in the sky. Musta been a tear from your eye. ?Bruce Springsteen Tears came from many an eye on July 10, 2021 with the passing of Russell Bassett, age 65. He was born to Russell E. and Mary Frances Bassett, August 12, 1955, in Logan WV. Life would take him on many an adventure far afield from his West Virginia beginnings. He spent his formative years in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania graduating High School there. He enjoyed educating himself outside of the rigid halls of academia; from history and music, to earning his private pilot?s license, Russell charted his own course. Russell found his calling in managing restaurants, and later giving Carriage rides in Nashville; where he could entertain friends, co-workers, and guests with his wit, charm, and the occasional song. As he spoke of his mom, ?She made us feel like each of us was her favorite child,? he imparted that spirit with his friends. It was those friends who made a difference for Russell at so many points in his life and were with him to the very end, and whom the family would also like to thank for their continued support.- Russell is survived by sisters, Linda Bowers and husband, Mark, Frances Bassett, Mary Kline and husband, Greg; and nephew, James Bowers. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allen Bassett. He is also survived by his many dear and loving friends, who gave him great comfort in life. A memorial gathering will be held, August 14, 2021 at Edwin Warner Park, Shelter #11, 86 Vaughn Rd., Nashville, TN from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers consider donating to St Jude?s Children?s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or other charity of your choice.
