Mrs. Sherry Todd, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, June 12, 2018 at the age of 94. Sherry was preceded in death by loving husbands, Donald G. Bassett and Warren J. Todd, parents William and Grace DeJong, and brothers Gerrit and Cornelius DeJong. Sherry is survived by daughter and son-in-law Darleen and Roger Behrens, Sons and daughter-in-law Dana and Diane Bassett, Mark Bassett and Blake Todd, grandchildren, Leah Hamstra (Craig), Whitney Ellis, Tallie Allen (Johnnie), Kandace Trepins, Cassie Wilder (Josh), and Chalsea Bassett (Dave Longoria). "Oma" is survived by her great-grandchildren: Meghan, Ashlyn, Peyton, Teagan, Trinity, John Jr., Devon, Lilian, Jaylen, Ayla, Jacob, and Zaiden, along with many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Todd was born in the Netherlands on July 13, 1923. During World War II Sherry served as a courier in the Dutch Resistance. She came to America in 1947. Sherry was a long time resident of Hudsonville Michigan and member of Hudsonville Congregational United Church of Christ. Mrs. Todd was employed by St. Mary's Hospital for 13 years as a Radiology Assistant. She was a member of the Dutch Heritage Society, and sang with the Sweet Adeline's. She was active as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and always a part of her children's school activities. Sherry was a friend to all and passionate about life. The celebration of Sherry's life will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Hudsonville Congregational United Church of Christ, 4950 32nd Ave. Hudsonville, MI 49426. Visitation will be held July 14 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed immediately with the Celebration of Sherry's life. Interment of Mrs. Todd's cremains will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Standale, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be directed to the Blandford Nature Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan or the charity of your choice.
