Robert E. ?Bob? Bassett
TECUMSEH - Robert E. "Bob" Bassett, age 72, of Tecumseh passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, with his wife at his side.
He was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Ypsilanti, the son of Carl and Alice (Bancroft) Bassett. He married Linda Krueger on Oct. 31, 1970, in Blissfield, and she survives.
Bob attended Missionary Baptist Church in Tecumseh. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Saline, for Lenawee County in the maintenance department and most recently had worked for Meijer in Ann Arbor. Bob enjoyed hot rods while growing up and always enjoyed talking cars with his friends. He also had a vast knowledge of antique trains. Bob enjoyed learning about the many lighthouses of the Great Lakes. He also loved caring for his pets.
Bob's wife Linda; son Ray (Amy) Bassett of Adrian; sister Carol (Lester) Ruhl of Onsted; grandchildren, Matthew, Kelsie and Destiny Bassett; and many nieces and nephews survive. His parents and his sisters, Evelyn Frederiksen and Eleanor VanPutten, preceded him in death.
Visitation will take place at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 31. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery with Pastor Brian Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used in Bob's honor.
