Herman A. Bassett (1950 - 2016)

Herman Adell Bassett entered into eternal rest on July 21, 2016. He was born on February 17, 1950 to Julius and Marie Bassett in Pensacola, Florida. Herman graduated from the University of West Florida on June 11, 1977. He served his country in the U.S. Amry during the Vietnam War, earning several awards including a Bronze Star. He retired from Monsanto (Solutia) after thirty years of service.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rita Hall Bassett and his daughter, Thelisa Bassett.He is survived by his devoted sons, Clinton (Rhonda) Bassett, and Derrick (Yosminda) Bassett, Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Clinton Jr., Kamilah, Yosheva, Boaz and Morgan; dedicated sister, Thelma (Rev. Clarence) Salter; caring brothers, Julius (Lillie) Bassett, Pensacola, Florida and Lawrence Bassett, Portsmouth, Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Cornell Young, Valleyjo, California; brothers-in-law, Otis Leo Hall and Charles (Cosa) James, Pensacola, Florida, James (Gloria) Hall and Harris (Brenda) Hall, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ray (Pamela) Hall, Oakland, California; aunt, Leila Shoemo, Altamonte Springs, Florida; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends, Ronza Larkins, Herbert Brewton, Jerry and Betty Brewer.Viewing will be from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Reeds Funeral Home, Thursday, July 28. Funeral service will be held at the First Corinthian Baptist Church, 1700 W. Jackson Street on July 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
