Jayne Hale-McPherson (1935-2016) (Picture included)
Jayne Hale-McPherson, 81, of Cheboygan, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at home. A resident of Cheboygan for the past 26 years, moving from Dearborn, Jayne was born April 12, 1935 in Dearborn, the daughter of Anthony and Dorothy (Bassett) Korte. She was a graduate of Madonna College, and later Wayne State University, receiving a Master's degree in education. In 1955 she married Albert Hale, who preceded her in death in 1986. In 1995 she married James McPherson, who also preceded her in death in 2006. Jayne was employed as a teacher in the Lincoln Park Public School system for 23 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the MARSP, the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and frequently attended their local meetings. Jayne was also a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are three daughters, Dawn (Kathy Smith) Hale of Petoskey, Victoria Brillhart of Granbury, Texas, and Brenda (Dan) Cowels of Otsego; three grandchildren, Haley Travis of Atlanta, Ga., Cary Brillhart of Granbury, Texas, and Harrison Travis of Cheboygan, as well as five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and two brothers, Miles and Douglas Korte. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date.
