Barbara Simmons
Graveside services for Barbara Simmons, 73, of Liberty City will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Reverend Pat Monk and Reverend Buddy Duggins officiating. Mrs. Simmons died Monday, April 2, 2018 in Longview.
Barbara was born November 14, 1944 in Kilgore to Marie and Grady Bass. She was a 1963 graduate of Kilgore High School. Barbara married her high school sweetheart in 1965 after he returned home from the military.
Mrs. Simmons retired from the Texas Railroad Commission. She was a member of Forest Home Baptist Church where she attended the Friendship Sunday School Class. Barbara's hobby was spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mike Simmons of Liberty City; two daughters, Leigh Ann Toney and her husband Trey of Fort Worth, Michelle Raymond of Liberty City; grandchildren, Paiglynn and Michael Raymond of Kilgore; a brother, Wayne Bass and his wife Sue Nell of Kilgore; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Stephanie Simmons, and a brother, Gene Bass.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Thursday evening between 6-8. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or any organization involving children.
