A former Angola resident, Bettie Jane Bassett Holland, 72, died Saturday at East Lake Care Center, Provo, Utah. Mrs. Holland was born August 22, 1922, in Pleasant Lake to Ollie and Esther Brooks Bassett. She was mail carrier with the Angola Post Office and moved to Provo in October 1991.
Mrs. Holland was a graduate of Angola HIgh School and attended Indiana University. During World War II she served with the U.S. Waves.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Angola. Mrs. Holland was a fifty year member of Angola Chapter 78 Order of Eastern Star and a member of Psi Iota Xi.
She is survived by a son, Michael of Boca Raton, Florida, and a daughter, Patricia "Pia" Jones of Oren, Utah, and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her twin sister, Billie Lake.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Weicht Funeral Home with Reverend J. Glenn Radcliffe officiating. Calling will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, with Angola American Legion Post 31 conducting military graveside rites.
