Joe Bassett, 70, of Napoleon, Ohio died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Northcrest Nursing Home, Napoleon, Ohio. He was born July 28, 1946 in Findlay, Ohio to the late John and Hermine (Barth) Bassett. On November 22, 1969 he married Ruth Spitler at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon, Ohio.
Joe was a 1964 Napoleon High School graduate and attended Stautzenberger College in Toledo. He formerly worked for Automatic Feed and then retired from Tenneco after 23 years of service. He was a member of the River City Rodders and was a former drag racer. He also enjoyed participating in pioneer reenactments.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Carrie Bassett (Michael Phillips), and Sarah Bassett, both of Akron, Ohio; half brother, John Farkas, mother-in-law, Bina Spitler, sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Gene) Liddle and Terri (Jim) Mt.Castle, brother-in-law, Dave Spitler, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 30 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon with visitation from noon - 6 p.m.
