      Arthur Lavern Bassett Sr., 1932 ? 2019. Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend returned to his heavenly home on March 11, 2019. He passed away peacefully in West Jordan, Utah. He spent the last days of his life surrounded by his loving and devoted posterity. Art was born on June 13, 1932, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, to Edith Opal Life and Joseph Irenus Bassett. He was the fifth of seven children.
      His family moved to Idaho in 1945, where he attended Jr. High and High School. In 1951, Art joined the Air National Guard and was stationed in Salt Lake City, Utah, and then Clovis, New Mexico. He was honorably discharged from the Reserves in 1954. Art worked for several dairy companies between 1955 and 1962 before entering the sales industry. He sold life insurance for the majority of his career and enjoyed meeting and helping people.
      Art met his life-long sweetheart, Anna May Wright, in Salt Lake City, and they were married on October 31, 1951. In 1952, Art was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; and in 1955, he and Anna May were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active and devoted member of the church, and served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. Art demonstrated kindness, patience, and love to all those with whom he associated.
      He and Anna May spent the majority of their married life living in Southern California raising their nine children. Art and Anna May loved to travel to visit family. They attended most of their grandchildren?s baby blessings, baptisms, high school graduations, and weddings. They loved their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and cared deeply for each of them.
      Art was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Anna May; his parents, Joseph and Opal Bassett; his siblings, Betty West, Claudice Bassett, Ken Bassett, and Richard Bassett; daughter-in-law, Janet Siebenthal Bassett; and grandson, Stuart Hardy. He is survived by his five sons and four daughters, Kathryn Hardy, Arthur Jr. (Jalene) Bassett, Douglas (Nedra) Bassett, Christie Bassett, Steven (Jackie) Bassett, Ronald (Jacquie) Bassett, David (Vonda) Bassett, Diane (Sol) Sagiao, Julie (Robert) Glover; forty-one grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; his sisters Bonnie Corle and Julia Rauh.
      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, 11:00 a.m., (viewing between 9:30 ? 10:30) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints ward building, located at 49 East Centennial Blvd., Saratoga Springs, UT. A viewing will also be held on March 15, 2019, from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m., at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main St., Lehi, UT. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
