C.N. ?Shorty? Bassett
C.N. ?Shorty? Bassett, 66, of Boise, died on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at his home from cancer. Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 1996, at the Whitney United Methodist Church, 3309 Overland Rd., Boise. Rev. Joseph Housh, pastor of the church will officiate. There will be a private family internment at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa.
C.N. ?Shorty? Bassett was born on Dec. 25, 1929, the son of Joseph and Opal Bassett, Broken Bow, Neb. He grew up on the family homestead on the sand hills of Nebraska. The family moved to Rupert, Idaho, during his teen years and he graduated from Rupert High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1952. Following his honorable discharge he made his home in Idaho. He married Donna Marie Shaw on June 14, 1967, in Nampa. Following their marriage they made their home in Boise. He worked as a land surveyor for Chronic and Associates for 20 years. He retired from Infotec in Boise in 1995. He was a member of the Boise Banjo Band for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing and playing music.
Shorty is survived by his wife, Donna M. Bassett, Boise; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Mary Lou Bassett, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Thomas and Cheryl Bassett, Boise; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Darryl Butler, Kuna, Idaho; two sisters, Bonnie Coyle, Buhl, Idaho and Loein Fuller, Boring, Ore.; two brothers, Ar. Bassett, El Cajon, Calif., and Dick Bassett, Nampa; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Bassett; and one sister, Betty West.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Luke?s Hospice, 151 E. Bannock St., Boise, 83712 or to the Whitney United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3309 Overland Rd., Boise, 83705.
