Mary Ellen (Bassett) Woodman, aged 69 years of West Bridgewater, MA died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at her home in West Bridgewater. She was the wife of the late Richard L. "Dick" Woodman.
Born September 25, 1935 in Brockton, MA she was the daughter of the late Emmett Bassett and the late Daisy (Skerry) Bassett.
Mary Ellen was a graduate of Brockton High School and had lived in East Bridgewater for 30 years before moving to West Bridgewater three years ago. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed rug braiding, baking wedding cakes, camping, flower gardening and loved to travel.
Mrs. Woodman was an active member of West Bridgewater Baptist Church and was a member of Brockton Christian Women's Club and a member of Stone Croft Ministries.
She is survived by five children Donna L. Woodman of Bridgewater, MA, Ellen L. Barnard of Halifax, MA, William S. Woodman of Bridgewater, Diane L. La Casse of East Bridgewater and Robert W. Woodman of Middleboro; seven grandchildren Corporal Roy L. Young, IV, Brian Young, Nathan Young, David Woodman, Brianna LaCasse, Zachary LaCasse and Nicholas LaCasse; a sister Joan Hodgkins of Canada and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Lauren Young and the sister of the late Kinsley, Duane and James Bassett and the late Kathleen Pratt.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the West Bridgewater Baptist Church, 65 North Elm St. West Bridgewater. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 4-7 PM in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Lauren Elizabeth Young Memorial Fund, Medway VIllage Church, Village St. Medway, MA 02053 or to the Joslin Clinic, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA.
