Alvin Bass
Alvin Bass, age 81, of Camden, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab. He was born August 29, 1934 in Stephens, AR to Hilton Coke and Georgia Bass.
He had many hobbies over the years: reading, hunting, fishing, gardening, bee keeping, camping, hunting dogs, archery, target and skeet shooting, and deep sea fishing. He read constantly and was knowledgeable on several subjects. There was no better husband and father. He was always easy going and laid back.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Bass Pickett; father, Hilton Coke; second mother, Margie Bass Mitchell; brothers, David Coke, Charles Coke, Ed Pickett, and Virgil Pickett; sister, Annette Pickett; and brothers-in-law, Guy Renfro, Kenneth Renfro, and John Rogers.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Renfro Bass of Camden; daughter, Beverly Bass Moseley and husband, Bimbo of Chidester; granddaughter, Brooke Howard-Parker and husband, Allan of Fayetteville, AR; great-granddaughter, Sarah Grace Parker of Fayetteville, AR; special four legged friend, Emma; brothers, Albert Coke of Pineville, LA, Willie Pickett of Ocean Springs, MS, James Mitchell of Denison, TX, Wayne Mitchell of Daphne, AL, and Greg Mitchell of Vicksburg, MS; sisters, Dorothy Coke Kerr and Joy Coke both of Pineville, LA, Carolyn Mitchell Barham of Sherwood, AR, Doris Mitchell Boozer, Nell Mitchell Johnson, and Joyce Mitchell Tatum all of Mobile, AL and Betty Jo Mitchell Burkhead of Keanu, HI; brother-in-law, Jim Daggett of Camden; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Coke of Centerpoint, LA, Patricia Rogers of Greenwood, AR, Carolyn Daggett of Camden, Ruth Renfro of Cypress, TX and Billie Renfro of Warsaw, MO; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Bethesda Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Rodney Landon, Ernie Burns, Eddie Pickett, Mike Pickett, Scott Pickett, Braxton Coke, Terry Bryant and David Howard.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
