Stephenville ? Services for Roy Hillard Thornton, 85, Director of Marketing for Texstar Plastics, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Lacy Funeral Home with David Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Mill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Lacy Funeral Home.
Roy was born in Lone Camp, Texas on October 31, 1930 to Robert Lee Thornton and Josie Ann (Israel) Thornton. He married Nora Beth Holder on June 25, 1949 in Palo Pinto County, Texas.
He was a member of the Hill crest Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; Nora Beth (Holder) Thornton of Stephenville, 2 daughters; Belinda Sue Stames and husband, James of Stephenville, Lisa Gayle Silhavy and husband, Mark of Azle, 2 sons; Roy Gene Thornton and wife, Nancy of Dripping Springs, TX., Jerry Edward Thornton of Stephenville, 3 brothers; Edward Franklin Thornton of Santo, Elvis Garland Thornton of Florida, Troye Lee Thornton of Gordon, 8 grandchildren; Brent Stames and wife, Elizabeth of Morgan Mill, Robin LeeAnn Bentley and husband, J.W. of Mansfield, Kayla Stames of Morgan Mill, Brad Thornton and wife, Kacey of Haslet, Scott Thornton and wife, Stacey of Pflugerville, Greg Thornton and fiancye, Meredith of Austin, Marisa Cox and husband, Kelby of Azle, Joshua Silhavey and wife, Amber of White Settlement, 13 great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; Robert (Bob) Lee Thornton and Josie Ann (Israel) Thornton, grandparents; John Jefferson Thornton and Margie Ann (Walker) Thornton, and Richard Israel and Appie Madenna (Miller) Israel; 3 sisters; Bobbie Louis Zinn, Ola Marie Walker, and Lou Tishie Hise, and 1 great-grandson, Colton Silhavy.
