Randy Bassett was born on June 12, 1950 in Fall River Mills, Ca and passed away May 6, 2016 in Redding, Ca surrounded by his family.
Randy is survived by his high school sweetheart, Sandra of 46 years. He also leaves behind his two children, Becky of Fall River Mills and son Craig of Cottonwood and daughter in law Nataly. He has two grandchildren, Haden (15) and Madalynn Bassett (12) of Cottonwood who referred to him as the "Best papa in the world." He also leaves two sisters, Roylene Petersen and Husband Robin of Orland, Marlene Stine and husband Pete of Albuquerque New Mexico. He had several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Randy loved spending time with his family and friends but his grandchildren were the love of his life. After the passing of her grandfather, Madalynn wrote the following: Today a special man has gone to heaven. A husband, son, father, best friend and the best papa in the world. I know you were struggling and suffering for a long time but now you can stop suffering. I know you will always be by our sides until the day we die. We love you and will see you soon.
Randy was kind, caring and always made people laugh and smile. He was always willing to listen and truly cared about everyone. He struggled through many illnesses but always maintained a positive attitude and continued to make people smile and laugh. Randy touched the lives of many just by being kind, caring and compassionate. Randy will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
A celebration of life desert potluck will be held at the Word of Life Assembly Church in Burney on Saturday May 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fall River Hospice Program or a charity of your choice.
