Alice Trowbridge Weds Robert Bassett In Geneva Church
Miss Alice Marie Trowbridge, daughter of Mrs. Carroll Shaw Trowbridge, 68 N. Main St., and the late Mr. Trowbridge, was united in marriage Saturday to Lt. (j.g.) Robert Walter Bassett, son of Mrs. Howard W. Bassett of Interlaken and the late Mr. Bassett.
The bride wore a gown of antique ivory satin in princess style with embroidered panel train, trimmed with rosepoint heirloom lace, and a cap of matching lace. The tulle veil worn by the bride was her mother?s. The gown was worn by her aunt Mrs. E. Dean Farnsworth, of Montclair, N.J., at her wedding 44 years ago. She carried a bouquet of gardenias and stephanotis.
Mrs. Kenneth Moeller, Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Geneva, was matron of honor. Miss Marianne Preston, Battle Creek, Mich., was maid of honor. Judith and Janet Moeller, of Indianapolis, were flower girls.
Daniel H. Bassett, Interlaken, a brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Charles W. Bassett, Deposit, N.Y., and a brother of the bridegroom, and Donald Fell, Interlaken.
A reception was held in First Baptist Church parlor. After a wedding trip, the bride and bridegroom will be at home after Jan. 21 at 522 Timothy Ave., Norfolk, Va.
The bride is a graduate of Principia High School, St. Louis, Mo.
The bridegroom was graduated from Interlaken High School and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, L.I. He is now attached to the U.S.S. Chauncey and recently returned from combat duty it the Far East.
