Sally Bassett Dickeson
Dickeson, Sally Bassett of Orleans, passed away after a brief illness at Liberty Commons of Chatham on February 4, 2016, friends and family at her side. Born in Mississippi and raised on Cape Cod, Sally Bassett Dickeson, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Dolly Bassett of Chatham, graduated from Chatham High School, Smith College and the University of Houston. After graduation she worked for United Airlines until 1973.As an accomplished artist she worked primarily with the palette knife, she was fascinated with the interplay of light, color and form as she created contemporary interpretations of traditional subjects. Sally married Ray Dickeson and lived in Texas, Boston, and London. While living in Texas, she was active in the Houston Art League. She owned a successful travel agency and had traveled extensively throughout the United States, South America, Southeast Asia and North Africa. During her years in London, her art was represented by Sloane Street Gallery and is in a number of private collections. Upon her return to Cape Cod in 1987, she became an active member of the art community. Her work has been represented by many galleries throughout the area. She is survived by her brother Benjamin Bassett of Chatham. Calling hours and service will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans on Monday, February 15th.
