James E. Bassett
James E. "Big Jim" Bassett, 41, of Washington Street, a car salesman for dealerships for 15 years, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Providence, a son of T. Raymond Bassett of East Providence, and Catherine E. (Magner) Bassett of Warwick, he lived in Warwick for many years before moving to Central Falls six months ago.
Mr. Bassett was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was involved in self-help groups in Rhode Island. He attended the Johnson & Wales Culinary Institute.
Besides his parents he leaves a son, Nicholas Bassett; a daughter, Heather Bassett, both of East Providence; a brother, Paul Bassett, and a sister, Nancy Haibon, both of Warwick.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane, Warwick.
