Holly Bassett (McMackin) Pruett, 64, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at home in Byron, from a long battle with cancer.
She was born to Chancey N. and Jacie May (Nicholls) Bassett on October 31, 1941, in Lovell. Holly attended school in Lovell until 1958 when she met and married Lawrence McMackin.
In 1962 they moved to Thermopolis where they traveled back and forth working in the Gas Hills. In 1967 she started working at the Tee Pee Spa and later became manager of the IGA bakery in Thermopolis.
In 1997 they moved to Byron and she started managing the baker at the IGA in Lovell. Off and on drove truck with her husband, traveling the 48 states. In 1997 she built sotrage sheds in Byron.
In 1997 she married Gene Pruett and together they would go explore the Pryor Mountains and Wyoming. They loved to take friends horseback riding and four-wheeling. She loved knitting, reading, welding and all outdoor activities.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; her daughter, Cindy Campbell of Casper; son, Bud McMackin of Casper; stepsons, Wayne Pruett of Price, Utah and Gregory Pruett of Denver, Colo.; stepdaughter Ann Hillis of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
She is preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, two sisters, one child, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, in the Byron LDS Chapel with interment following in Byron Cemetery.
Haskell Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
