Mamie B. Bass
Lexington - Services for Mamie B. Bass, 74, will be held Thursday, July 13, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Lexington Baptist Church with interment to follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be the Reverend Rick Fisher. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12, 2006, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to SCOA Cares Foundation, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, South Carolina 29210 or Lexington Baptist Church Music/Building Fund, 308 East Main Street, Lexington, South Carolina 29072.
Ms. Bass died Monday, July 10, 2006. Born in Bamberg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late C.L. “Roy” and Inez Hightower Bessinger. She was a member of Lexington Baptist Church and worked for Sessions of Lexington for over 20 years and the South Carolina Employment Security Commission for 15 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Alecia Bass of Lexington; sons, Jimmy Bass of Columbia and Michael (Brenda) Bass of Lexington; daughter, Teresa (Jody) Miller of Lexington; son, Robby (Toni) Bass of Lexington; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, James Bessinger of Georgetown; sisters, Mildred Hajek of St. Louis, Missouri, Ruth Baotwright of Kingstree, Demaris Bessinger of Bamberg and Betty (Bernard) Bourne of West Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Bass was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Bessinger and one sister, Thelma Harrison.
