- In Memory of Irma Culler
January 7, 1920 – October 31, 2011
The graveside service for Irma Mae Allen Culler, 91, of Columbia, will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, November 4, 2011, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd, with The Rev. Dr. William R. Childs officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Thursday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made as memorials to Epworth Children's Home, PO Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250.Mrs. Culler, widow of the late E.E. "Pete" Culler, died Monday, October 31, 2011. Born in Allendale, SC, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Sallie Bassett Allen. During World War II, she worked for the draft board and later with the Social Security Administration before marrying and settling down to raise a family. Irma was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, where she worked in the nursery, served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and participated in the church's United Methodist Women's Circle, which took on many social help projects.Survivors include her sons, Etienne, William "Bill", and Jonathan "Jon" Culler; as well as by two grandsons, Jonathan and Dave. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Culler was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack, Willie, and Paul, Jr.; and son, James "Jimmy" Culler.Funeral Home, Columbia, SC.
