Helen E. Bassett, Delta Township, Michigan
Helen Elizabeth Bassett, age 87, passed away May 1, 2003 in Lansing, Michigan. She was born July 13, 1915 in Bellevue, Michigan, daughter of Herbert and Grace (Stanton) Reynolds. Helen was a graduate of Bellevue High School and Eaton County Normal School. She taught at the Dolly Varden School and was a long time employee of the State of Michigan Treasury Department, retiring in 1978 and was a member of the State Employees Retirees Club. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Trinity 50+ Club member of West Delta Helping Hand Club, Farm Bureau and was a life and gold certificate member of the Grand Lodge Chapter #14 O.E.S., where she served as Worthy Matron and was organist for many years. She is survived by her three sons, Arnold D. of Fife Lake, Michigan, Gerald R. of South Boardman, Robert D. of Grand Ledge, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Harold Reynolds of Bellevue, many nieces and nephews, one sister-in-law, Jessie M. Chapman of Grand Ledge and was predeceased by her husband, Arnold L., daughter, Donna L. Bishop and brothers, Don and Morris Reynolds. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Pastor Jim Mort of the Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment to follow at the Delta Center Cemetery, Delta Township, Eaton Co. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with O.E.S. services conducted by Grand Ledge Chapter #14 beginning at 7:30 p.m. For those desiring, contributions made to the Grand Ledge Chapter #14 O.E.S. will be greatly appreciated.
