Carolyn W. Bassett 1922-2007
NILES - Carolyn W. Bassett, 85, Niles, died at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Cleveland University Hospital.
Mrs. Bassett was born July 10, 1922, in Niles, a daughter of William and Bessie Shrum Whittaker.
She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School Class of 1940 and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Niles, where she served as a Stephen Minister. She was a past member of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Bassett, whom she married, Feb. 11, 1942; three children, Candyce Warnick of Naples, Fla., Richard and wife Cathy Bassett of Niles, and Jeff and wife Kelly Bassett of Naperville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Bassett; and a sister, Dorothy Barron.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel, 415 Robbins Ave., with Dr. Rev. Oaks presiding. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
