Kimberly Kay Bassett
Kimberly Kay Bassett, aged 60, of Pace, Florida passed away at her residence on August 24, 2025. She was born on August 28, 1964, in Afton, Minnesota, to parents Earl Bassett and Kay Dawson Bassett. Kimberly received an associate's degree from the University of Maryland and enlisted in the Air Force in 1988, where she proudly served as a Weather Forecaster for 8 years. During her time in service, she was stationed across America and the Pacific Ocean and served from August 1990 to December 1996 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Not only was she her forecasting school's honor graduate, but she also won the John L. Levitow award at Airman Leadership School and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was widely known among her peers and leadership for her exceptional skill in forecasting, her infectious positive attitude, and her motivated dedication to military service.
After she retired, she spent her days engaging in creative arts and crafts, experimenting with new recipes, and rooting for the Minnesota Vikings football team. She always cheered on her two children, Cassidy and Cole, from the sidelines in their every endeavor, from Cassidy's military career to Cole's strenuous mathematics degree. Her unwavering selflessness drove her to maintain a safe place for anyone in need, whether they were simply her children's friends over for a sleepover or a lost soul in need of help in a dark time. Kimberly will be remembered for her kindness and hospitality, as well as her dedication to ensuring everyone was heard and loved.
Kimberly is survived by her mother, Kay Bassett; her brothers, Tim and Eric; and her children, Cassidy and Cole Bassett. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Friends and family are invited to Family-Funeral and Cremation in Pensacola, FL on September 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm for the memorial ceremony. She will later be laid to rest in the Barrancas National Cemetery, among the many veterans of Northwest Florida.
