Darlene Bassett
Darlene F. Bassett, 67, of rural New Douglas, died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1994, at Utlaut Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Bassett was born Jan. 11, 1927 in Shoal Creek Township, Bond County, a daughter of the late Arvis and Jessie Orten Chesnut. She married Ivan Lee Bassett Jan. 11, 1946, in Edwardsville. He survives in New Douglas.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons Gary Bassett and wife Barbara of New Douglas, Bennett Bassett and wife Vicki of Greenville, and Lindell Bassett and wife Melody of Pocahontas, one daughter, Mrs. Ken (Karen) Schurter of Evans Mill, NY, and eight grandchildren Van, Bryen, Bain, Benjamin, Tabitha, Samantha and Candace Bassett and Jacob Schurter.
Mrs. Bassett operated the family farm. She was a member of Sorento Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Lesicko Funeral Home in New Douglas.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Lipe officiating. Burial will be in New Douglas Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Extended Care Unit of Utlaut Memorial Hospital, Greenville or Bond County Hospice.
