Sybil C. Bassett
BARNSTABLE VILLAGE - Sybil C. Bassett, a lifelong resident of Barnstable Village, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth.
She was the wife of the late Balfour Bassett who died in 1992.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of St. Mary?s Alter Guild, Barnstable Women?s Club, and she was a quilter. She also enjoyed interior decorating, oriental gardens, world travel, and painting. She spent her summers on Sandy Neck and her winters in Marathon, Florida. She worked at Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich. While living at Thirwood place she was very active in social activities and committee meetings, and where she was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children; Gail A. Bassett of Hyannis and New York; Wayne D. Bassett and his wife Evelyn B. of Barnstable; and Heather J. Bassett of Sandwich. Her grandchildren W. Dana Bassett and his wife Heidi, and Tara Ring and her husband Vincent. Great-grandchildren: Noah, Camden, Brooke Bassett, and Mikayla, Marcus, Oliva Ring, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary?s Episcopal church, 3055 Main Street ( Route 6A), Barnstable Village, MA., 02630.
