Frances E. Duggan, 94
Yarmouthport ? Frances E. (Bassett) Duggan, 94, of Yarmouthport, passed away at her home Aug. 15, 2011.
She was the wife of the late Edward M. Duggan, who died in 1985.
A native Cape Codder, she was born in Sandwich, the daughter of the late Roland F. and Elizabeth (Sherwood) Bassett. She was raised and educated in Barnstable, was a 1935 graduate of Barnstable High School, and attended the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing in Medford.
She was a resident of Arlington and Lexington for many years and worked at Symmes Hospital in Arlington. She retired to Yarmouthport in 1979.
A communicant of Saint Pius X Church in South Yarmouth, she was a member of the Women's Guild for 32 years. She was an avid quilter, knitter, seamstress, and a great cook.
She will be long remembered by her kind and generous heart, and her devotion to family.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Oldham of Yarmouthport; three granddaughters, Christine Arden and her husband, Stephen, of Yarmouthport, Catherine Oldham and her boyfriend, John Martin, of South Orleans, and Susan Duggan Doherty and her husband, John, of Melrose; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sybil Bassett, of South Yarmouth; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Peter E. Duggan; a brother, Balfour Bassett; and a sister, Muriel Swansey.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Saint Pius X Church in South Yarmouth.
