Eldon Bassett
Eldon Bassett, 80, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at his daughter's house (Katherine) surrounded by many of his family members. Funeral services were held September 28 at the Presbyterian Church in Akron, with interment at the Memory Garden Cemetery in Ft. Morgan. Pallbearers were six grandsons - Robin Rhea, Rick Rhea, Jack Rhea, Adam Bassett, Jason Bassett and Brady Bassett. Obituary Eldon was born on June 6, 1932, to Ed and Frances Bassett in Woodrow, Colorado. He married Nadine Hoosier on February 23, 1951, where they lived in Ft. Morgan. They later moved to Oregon, where they lived for seven years, and then returned to Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nadine; one sister, Wanda Dine and one brother, Russell Bassett; and two great-grandchildren, Kyla and Christopher. Left to mourn his passing are his three children: Katherine Rhea, and her husband, Bud, of Akron, Steven Bassett, and his wife, Patti, of Lincoln, NE, and Louise Milburn, and her husband, Larry, of Arvada; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Lucille Bowdridge of Oregon, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. He absolutely loved to ride his horses in his younger days. He was a car mechanic for many years and taught his son and grandsons everything there is to know about cars dating from 1940 to 1975. Newer cars than that were just "new-fangled contraptions." He gave his enjoyment of animals to his daughter, Louise, who truly over-zealously loves animals to this day. He gave all of his unconditional love to his daughter, Katherine. Louise and Steven have always said that is why they had to beg for love (just kidding). All kidding aside, Dad had a tremendous love for his entire family. This is the greatest inheritance (because he isn't leaving us any money) he has given his kids and grandkids and great grandkids, so it will continue on through the Bassett generations. Dad realized that with his passing, his three kids would become orphans. He requests that should anyone adopt us, please don't separate us. Dad will be greatly missed.
