Donna Phyllis Hanson-Nielson
Donna Phyllis Hanson-Nielsen passed away on March 20, 2013 in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the age of sixty-two after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Donna was born on February 9, 1951 in Meriden, Connecticut to parents Donald Bigelow Hanson and Phyllis Eileen Galvin Hanson. Donna graduated from Durham High School in 1969 and was married to Richard Francis Nielsen in 1976. Donna was employed with the United States Postal Service for thirty years most recently working in the Fort Mill, South Carolina office. Donna was a lover of life and enjoyed knitting, reading, boating, traveling and spending time with her closest friends and family especially her grandson, Colin. She is survived by her daughter, Cortnee Rushlow and her husband Chad Rushlow, her son, Ryan Nielsen and his wife Eleonore Buet Nielsen, her grandson, Colin Rushlow, her mother, Phyllis Galvin Hanson, her brothers, Donald Hanson, Drew Hanson, Charles McNiff and Robert McNiff, and her closest friends and "sisters", Patricia Butcher, Maureen Lynch, Kathleen Sullivan Conway and Jennifer Johns. Her father, Donald Hanson precedes her in death as well as Richard Nielsen father to her children Cortnee and Ryan. Donna's Funeral Service and burial were private. Arrangements by the Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home in Middletown.
