Mrs. Bassett was born, grew up and attended school in Quincy and was a lifelong resident of the city. Wife of the late Francis Bassett, she is survived by six sons, Francis Bassett and Thomas Bassett, both of Quincy, Michael Bassett, Steven Bassett and John Bassett, all of Hyannis, and Donald Bassett of Centerville; four daughters, Denise Roche of Yuma, Ariz.; Patricia Bassett of Quincy, Elaine Rigler of Reno, Nev., and Sharon Barnes of Falmouth; a brother, Charles Nord of Quincy; two sisters, Arlene Cochrane of Middleboro and Debroah Echelle of Quincy; an aunt, Helen Bassett of Chatham; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service and burial are private. Visiting is from y to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St.
