George W. Bassett Jr.
George W. Bassett Jr., 72, of Taylors, South Carolina, and formerly of Stafford Springs, passed away April 18, 2015, in Williamsburg, Virginia.
He was born in Stafford Springs, son of the late George and Norma (Tonidandel) Bassett. He was an avid gardener and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was also a former member of the Stafford Springs Fire Department, Italian Benefit Society, and the Stafford Fish and Game Club. George's greatest love was that of his four girls, who gave him many gray hairs. His Big Girl broke his nose practicing karate. His Tom Boy climbed trees in dresses. His Butterball loved pulling his chest hair. His Peanut insisted she get carried everywhere because of her fear of grass.
He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Bassett. George is survived by his daughters Lora Fortuna and her husband, Tom, Leah Polowichak and her husband, Patrick, and Linda Bassett and her fiancé, Dan Diaz. He cherished his grandchildren, Ashley and her husband, Kyle, Ethan, Jessica, Makenzie, Jaiden, and Jasmine; as well as his great-grandson, Sean. In addition, he leaves many wonderful friends in South Carolina.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, May 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service to take place at 11 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs.
