Bill Whitlock YORK - Mr. William Ellis Whitlock, 71, of 409 East Jefferson Street, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Inurnment will be at a later date in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service. Bill was born in Columbia, Ky. and was the son of the late Ernest and Virginia Bassett Whitlock. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chester, S.C. where he was a religious education teacher and served on the church cleaning and yard maintenance committees. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a retired driver for Eppes Trucking Company. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Patricia Campbell Whitlock, of the home; four sons, Allen Ray Whitlock and wife, Angela, of Indiana, Christopher Douglas Whitlock of Clover, S.C., David Mitchell Whitlock and wife, Lindsay, of York, S.C. and Michael Cong and wife, Heather, of Goose Creek, S.C.; three daughters, Tammy Glunt and husband, Matthew, of Mount Joy, Pa., April Collins and husband, James, of Clover and Christy Harris of Great Falls, S.C.; his brother, Allen Whitlock and wife, Marjorie, of Lafayette, Ind.; three sisters, Frances Whitaker of Lafayette, Edith Stewart of Indiana and Juanita Petree and husband, Jack, of La Follette, Tenn. and 15 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
